Accra, Aug 7, GNA - Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday defeated Real Tamale United (RTU) 2-1 in the 19th week GT Premier League match at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, in Accra.

RTU who came into the game with a tactical defensive play, executed it to perfection but bowed down to the intensed pressure from Hearts in the dying minutes of the first half.

The victory of Hearts came through the efforts of Lawrence Adjah Tetteh who headed home Amankwah Mireku's in-swinger of the 45th minute of the first half.

The second half assumed the same pattern but occasionally, it was Hearts, who pressed on for consolidation of their lead as RTU embarked on intermittent counter attacks, which never paid off. Hearts however consolidated their lead in the 74th minute when Prince Tagoe ended his goal draught by squeezing in a cross from Joe Louis.

RTU managed to pull one back in the 85th minute when they broke through an offside trap and with only hearts keeper Sammy Adjei at their mercy, substitute Abdul Razka Issah wasted no time in placing the ball on the path of Gafaru Abdulai to score the consolation goal. Even though the goal gingered the visitors in their search for the much- needed equaliser, their effort was just not enough to see them through till the final whistle.
