Accra, Oct 24, GNA - Relegation threatened Feyenoord Academy had their already precarious plight in the Premiership worsened with a 3-0 demolishing by unstoppable Accra Hearts of Oak in their League match played at the nation's Wembley, the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday. The Fetteh-boys who beamed with understandable optimistic prior to the game following their 2-1 home win against Power FC on Wednesday, were no match for the Phobians.
The performance of Hearts' might have been a far cry from their superlative show against Sable De Batie of Cameroon in their Confederations Cup tie last Sunday, but had enough power to squeeze two and one goals in each session to keep their commanding lead in Zone B. In a business-like manner, Hearts whose midfield fared casually on the day managed to create loads of chances from the onset to make the ninth minute goal from a Lawrence Adjei's grounder a matter of time. The speeds-star capitalized on sloppy clearance from the visitors' rear, that dealt woefully with a Louis Agyemang header which rebounded for Adjei to sneak home the opener to keep their aim of giving their fans a feel of what to expect on course when they trek to South Africa as guest of Club Santos in a continental tie on Sunday.
Feyenoord as usual played remarkably well in the "engine room" where their midfield trio of Haruna Ganew, Theophilous Apoti and Godfred Ofosu dominated their opponents.
However, it was the Phobians goalkeeper Mohammed Saani who twice denied Feyenoord the needed equalizer in the 14th and 15th minutes when slippery Isaac Borketey Bortey and Dominic Adiya had their painstaking shots dramatically saved.
From nowhere, Acquah Harrison consolidated his side's lead with a 25 meter piercing cracker to make up for two earlier grievous misses by Agyemang and Bernard Don Bortey on the 40th mark to end the first session with Hearts up by two goals.
The game resumed with each side making frantic effort at goal, but it was the Phobians who profited from their three changes that saw Emmanuel Osei Kuffour, Alfred Nii Larbi and Joe Ansah replacing Frank Kornu, Agyemang and Bortey.
The impact was eminent as Francis Bossman who enjoyed a good day sealed the doom of Feyenoord with a hefty shot behind the 18-yard box when he was gifted from a skipper Amankwah Mireku's pass from a free kick.
Feyenoord has won twice from nine games and are wallowing at the lower ranks of the table with seven points, only two point better than troubled Accra Great Olympics.
