Abrankese (Ash), Nov.23, GNA - A rejuvenated Kessben F/C side on Sunday began their 2008/09 Premier league on a good note with a 2-0 victory over visiting Second Eleven Wise in their match played at the Anane Boateng Stadium at Abrankese on the Kumasi - Lake Road in Ashanti. Both teams commenced the match on a serious note and in the 20th minute the home side launched a series of incursions into the goal area of the visitors, however, the Kessben attack, which was woven around Gideon Siboa, Jordan Owusu Minta and Akwasi Adu, failed to penetrate the watertight defence of Wise to end the half goaless. On resumption, Kessben concentrated their game plan on the flanks where Zuga Yufa and Richard Adjei operated effectively and came up occasionally with some dangerous and incisive crosses. This strategy worked to perfection as the homesters opened the scoring in the 47th minute when defender Kofi Agyare joined the attack to connect home a corner kick effected by Akwasi Bobie Ansah. Ten minutes later, Kessben increased the tally to two through Akwasi Adu, who broke loose from his marker, to intercept a pass from Yufa before unleashing a thunderbolt that zoomed into the yawing net. Wise lifted their game in search of a consolation but their efforts proved futile.
