The national Kinapharma Premier League returns to life this weekend at six centres where the seventh week league matches would be cleared. Only the Obuasi Goldfields versus Real Tamale United game at Obuasi and the Okwawu United versus Kumasi Asante Kotoko games have been postponed following Goldfields and Kotoko's contribution of players to the senior national team for the Nations Cup crucial last group qualifiers.
While Kotoko are supplying no less than seven players for the game, Goldfields have had their first two goalkeepers called up for the game hence the postponements.
In the absence of the two games therefore, Kumasi, Cape Coast, Sunyani, Accra, Prestea and Kpando will see real action. At Cape Coast Accra Hearts of Oak will be seeking to consolidate their hold on the topmost spot of the league table as they come face to face with Stay Cool Professionals. Hearts look too set to clinch the three points and should start as favourites even without Bernard Bortey and Daniel Coleman who are out on national assignment. In Laryea Kingston, Hearts have a real pearl who can easily turn things around for the team provided he recovers from his injury for the game.
In the Garden City, King Faisal would be seeking to reverse the recent bad results the team has been picking up when they host Giants of the West, Sekondi Hasaacas. It looks like Faisal will overcome the Hasaacas assignment in big time given the determination of the Nokia Boys to dig gold. They have in the last few days tried to iron out some rough edges in the team. But Hasaacas, consistently good at the Kumasi Stadium wont be mincemeat at all.
At the Sunyani Coronation Park, a grudge match is what can be anticipated between B. A. United and fantastic Liberty Professionals. Liberty can be trusted to put up one of the best games, and should United repeat the form they showed against Hearts of Oak in their league match a fortnight ago at the Accra stadium, football fans would be the winners.
Impressive but goal shy Great Olympics, after losing the Republic Day President's Cup to city rivals, Hearts of Oak, would be waiting to vent their spleen on Tano Bofoakwa at the Accra Stadium. This game can go either way particularly if Olympics decide to play as they did against Hearts when they simply refused to score.
At Prestea, Mine Stars and their guests, Berekum Arsenals look equally paired to do battle. The result could go any way while at Kpando, Heart of Lions will be testing the might of Power FC and it looks like this one too can end in a draw but I wont be surprised if there is a winner.
