Kumasi, March 5, GNA - Konongo Odumasi Senior High School (SHS) emerged winners in both the Girls and Boys division of Zone Two of the Ashanti Regional Inter-Schools and Colleges Athletics competition held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The school won most of the track events in the Girls division including the 100 metres, 110 metres hurdles and 4=D7100 relay events to amass 155.5 points to take the first position and were presented with a trophy by the Regional Schools and Colleges Sports Federation. The Konongo Odumasi SHS have by this feat qualified for the Super Zonal Stage of the competition which is scheduled for the middle of March this year.
Other schools which qualified to the next stage include St Monica's SHS, which had 88.5 points, Afia Kubi Ampem Girls SHS, 60 points and Osei Kyeretwie SHS, 52 points. In the Boys division, Konongo Odumasi SHS also emerged winners after amassing 154.5 points to qualify to the Super Zonals Stage and were presented with a trophy. Obuasi Secondary Technical SHS had 122.5 points with Adu-Gyamfi SHS and Kumasi Technical Institute having 39.5 points and 36 points respectively to qualify to the next stage of the competition. Zone Three is yet to commence its competition.
