Kotoko Draw At Sunyani

A brilliant second half display by Bofoakwa Tano enabled them to hold gala lords, Fabulous Kumasi Asante Kotoko, to a goalless draw in their thrilling ninth week GT premier soccer league encounter at the Sunyani Coronation Park yesterday.

Bofoakwa, who played below form in the first half, surprisingly lifted up the game in their second half during which they dominated in the greater part of the exchanges and could have even carried the day, if their attackers had not been erratic at goal.

Kotoko should blame themselves for not winning the game by a wide margin in the first half during which they dominated about 70 per cent of the game.

The visitors' attacking machinery of Edmund Owusu Ansah, Nana Arhin Duah, Kwabena Dodzie, Douglas Nkrumah and Daniel Bomfah should have buried Bofoakwa under an avalanche of goals but they wasted the numerous opportunities they created.

A nasty incident occurred after Cape Coast Class One referee Joseph Mensah brought proceedings to an end. Some Kotoko fans rushed on him for not allowing their club to take an injury time indirect free-kick he had awarded their club. The referee claimed that the Kotoko player had delayed in taking the kick after a Bofoakwa defender had thwarted his efforts in taking the kick that was a few metres away from the homesters? penalty box, after which he whistled for the end of the match.

The Kotoko fans? attack on the referee was stemmed by security men at the park.
