Kumasi, May 26, GNA - Kumasi Asante Kotoko beat Kpando Heart of lions 3-1 in their MTN F/A quarter-final match played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday night to qualifier to the semi-final stage of the competition.
All the goals were scored during the extra time of the 30-minutes of the match after both teams had settled on a goalless draw during regulation time.
The extra time was a session where the fans had a real feeling of the game with both sides showing real commitment to win the match.
It was Kotoko who scored first through Nathaniel Asamoah who during the game missed many scoring chances. He however atoned for his mistakes to hit the back of the net in the fourth minute of the first half of the extra time with Samad Oppong making it two in the half.
From then the players of Kotoko who played as if they were possessed did not make further mistakes and went ahead to score their third goal through Ahmed Toure two minutes into the second half. Lions seemed to be out of breath after soaking the incessant pressure with their ten men team after their goalkeeper Joseph Addo had been sent off in the 44th minute of the first half of the game for an attack on Toure.
This forced the visitors to play defensively until Gilbert Fiamenyoh managed to pull a face saving goal to push them out of the FA competition.
