Konongo (Ash), Sept 4, GNA Kumasi Asante Kotoko exercised their superiority over Berekum Arsenals when they thrashed them 3-0 in their One-Touch Premier League match at the Konongo 91Waterloo' Park. The first half was fiercely fought with Kotoko slightly on top and it came as no surprise when they shot into the lead in the 17th minute through Nana Arhin Duah who powered his way through the Arsenal defence before delivering a low grounder to beat onrushing Ransford Cudjoe in posts for Arsenal.
Kotoko's Ali Ouadrago slotted home the second for his side three minutes later when he delivered a powerful shot from a goalmouth melee that zoomed straight into the net.
Kotoko piled up the pressure on their opponents in search of more goals but poor finishing denied them of the much needed goals. The game at latter stages of the first half resulted to rough play by the two teams but referee Daniel Ofei to stamped his authority on the game by showing three yellow cards to Kotoko's Michael Asante and Arsenal's Osei Boateng and Halifax Afranie. Afranie was later shown the red-card for rough play on Osei Kwame Jnr.
On resumption of the second half, both teams made substitutions but it was Kotoko who benefited from the changes as they attacked in droves to increase their goal tally but the Arsenal's defence centred around Saliu Yakubu, Henry Brenya and Fuseini Adams kept them at bay. In one of Kotoko's swift attacks in the 85th minute, Aziz Ansah who replaced injured Osei Kwame Jnr surged forward after racing past Saliu Yakubu before letting go a perfect cross which an under pressure Fuseini Adams in a desperate attempt to clear the ball off the goal line rather deflected the ball inbto his own net to scored an own goal to give Kotoko the third goal.
