Accra Hearts of Oaks widened their lead on the Kinapharma Zone B Premier League table when they beat second placed Kpando Heart of Lions 4-2 in their third week match played at the Accra Sport Stadium on Sunday.

Hearts playing without two of their regular front men of Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour and Louis Agyeman opened the scoring as early as the third minute when Prince Tagoe outwitted his marker before chipping the ball over onrushing Baba Sampana in the post for Lions.

Lions re-organised their midfield after the early setback and took the game to the homesters and in the process succeeded in creating some anxious moments in the Hearts box.

The dominance of the midfield by the Kpando lads paid off when in the 26th minute they equalised through Samuel Yeboah's well taken volley from about 20 meters that beat Sammy Adjei who appeared to have moved a little off his goal line.

Urged on by their vociferous supporters, Hearts pushed forward and came close to finding the net through Alfred Nii Larbi and Prince Tagoe in the 26th and 34th minute respectively.

On the stroke of half time, Hearts took the lead again when Jerry Akaminko fumbled with an Amankwa Mireku cross on the goal line to give Lawrence Adjei the easiest task of tapping the ball into the empty net. The two teams made a substitution each during the break with Hearts bringing on Eric Nyarko for Frank Turkson whilst Lions brought on Asamoah Taylor for Taju Dini.

The substitution proved effective for the home team when in the 51st minute Adjah Tetteh who has been moved from the midfield to attack, passed the ball to unmarked Tagoe to fire in his second and Hearts third.

Lions who seemed dazed by the third goal were not allowed to recover and Hearts went ahead to score their fourth in the 54th minute when Lawrence Adjei threaded his header through a host of legs into the corner of the Lions net.

The Kpando lads however, remained undaunted as they pushed forward with the odd against them to score the consolation goal in the 58th minute through Yeboah again who found himself unmarked in the box to head into the net.
