LEAGUE: Liberty and Power Share Points

Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals pulled a vital away point in their third-week game played against Power FC when they drew one all in the Kinapharma Premier league match at the El-Wak Park on Sunday. Both teams sold out an unimpressive game but managed to find the net once each in the second half haven concentrated play in the midfield to settle for the drawn game.

The visitors held on to their lead, which came their way through Obeng Darko in the 65 minute before substitute Alan Shearer equalized for Power with only four minutes left to the end.

Darko beat a seemingly offside trap and rounded up goalkeeper Abukari Sulemana to slot home the opener for Liberty, which was met with a fierce protest from the Power team.

The goal however, brought out the best in Power who fought like wounded lions fighting for the equalizer, which eventually came their way from a goal- mouth scramble that saw Shearer's header zooming into the yawning net with goalkeeper Kotie Blankson stranded.

Playing in front of barely an empty stadium, the two teams engaged each other in a fierce battle and made occasional threats at goal, which however failed to yield the desired results.

The closest that Liberty came to scoring was when Jonathan Quartey's final delivery from a close range missed target narrowly haven capitalized on scrappy marking from the rear men of the homesters pivoted around Frank Quao.

Power's goalkeeper, Sulemana received a standing ovation from the scanty crowd a few minutes later when he made a crucial save from the boot of David Boateng, who was at an advantage to score. Both teams fought hard for the match winner that never came their
