Kumasi, Mar 5, GNA - Daniel Nii Adjei's 40-metre right footer in the 79th minute enabled Kumasi Asante Kotoko to beat Kpando Heart of Lions 3-2 in their mid-week One Touch premier league encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
It was a beautiful cross from Kwadwo Poku which Adjei made no mistake about and shot the ball straight into the net. The league leaders took the lead in the 19th minute through fast improving defender, Richard Manu who headed home a corner kick taken by Samuel Inkoom.
Heart of Lions levelled up in the 23rd minute through speedster Dominic Adiyia who hit home a rebound.
With both teams exhibiting good soccer, it was Kotoko who had the upper hand and made it 2-1 in the 26th minute through Samuel Inkoom who hit home a loose ball after goalkeeper Stephen Ahorlu had failed to make a first time save from a free kick taken by Afful Harrison. Kotoko nearly made it 3-1 in the 32nd minute but Goalkeeper Ahorlu saved the situation.
Heart of Lions pinned Kotoko to their half of the field but failed to equalize until the end of the first half. On resumption, Heart of Lions improved their game and made it 2-2 in the 65th minute through Dominic Adiyia.
Both teams exhausted their substitution lists and with the game heading to a draw, Nii Adjei struck, winning the game for Kotoko.
