At the Accra Sports stadium, relegation threatened Accra Great Olympics on Wednesday lived up to their pre-match bluff to record their first Premier league vitory by posting a 1-0 win over Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals in their eight-week game.
Michael Ocansey gave the "Wonder Boys" a seemingly life line in the league when he capitalized on sloppy defending by the Mustapha Essuman-led Liberty rear to record the only goal on the third minute mark.
The win incidentally served as a dual purpose for Olympics, as apart from recording their first ever victory they also managed to avenge the 3-0 drubbing they suffered from the hands of the "Scientific Soccer" lads when both crossed swords last week.
Irrespective of the score line, the "Dade Boys" who are perched at the bottom of the Zone B league table with five points from eight games would be the first to reckon that they have a long way to go if they are to survive relegation.
Both sides sold out an unimpressive game, though it was Olympics who enjoyed more action upfront where Winfred Dorman and Paa Joe Kumah gave their markers loads to worry about.
Liberty was however denied several opportunities to find the equaliser by Olympics goalkeeper, Joseph Halm on the few occasions that they came close to scoring till the end of proceedngs.
