Accra, Nov. 1 GNA - 'Wonder Club' Accra Great Olympics played a determined game to chalk their first victory of the Glo Premier League when they beat visiting Obuasi Ashgold 2-1 at the Ohene Djan Sports stadium, Accra on Sunday.

Olympics started the game full of fight and with determination to carry the day as they stringed their passes together to the delight of their vociferous fans but had to wait until the 15th minute when Bilal Mohammed pounced on a loose ball to record the first goal for his side.

The early goal seemed to have confused the 'Miners' as they started making blunders but Olympics, instead of increasing their goal haul decided to play an entertaining game amidst hard tackles for Patrick Gyamfi to fall foul of the rules for a hard tackle on an opponent in the 23rd minute to receive a second yellow card and the marching off order.

Ashgold quickly took advantage of their numerical advantage to break even when Aminu Mohammed made mince meat of the defensive strength of Olympics to get the eqauliser in the 25th minute.

The goal gingered up the Miners as they pinned Olympics to their own half but failed to find the net as the goal posts denied them the needed goals on two occasions after the Olympics keeper and his defence were beaten to the ball.

Olympics gradually took over proceedings but when it mattered most the strikers failed to string their passes together until Bilal tore his marker apart to hit a strong shot that hit the posts and back into play but an unmarked Fuseini Ibrahim who was in a good position to score surprisingly shot over the bar.

Eric Adjetey however made amends for the misses of his colleagues when he took advantage of an indifferent Ashgold defence to make it two for Olympics in the 58th minute to send the Olympics faithful into wild jubilation.

Olympics should have increased their goal tally but over elaboration denied them further goals as the lethargic rear men of Ashgold were bereft of ideas to counteract the swift moves of the Wonder boys till the final whistle.
