Visiting Kpando Heart of Lions pipped Accra Great Olympics in the second week league match of the Onetouch Premier League played at the El Wak Stadium, Accra on Sunday.
The lone goal came in the dying minutes of game after both sides have struggled for dominance especially in a scrappy first half. Lions, however on resumption of the second half played an improved game and managed to pin Olympics to their area on most occasions but ended up squandering series of scoring opportunities.
Even though the search for a goal was not forthcoming, the visitors did not relent in their effort as the likes of Abraham Annan, Hans Kwofie and Dominic Adiyah combined effectively upfront to put up sustained pressure on the homesters.
The continuous pressure on Olympics gave a clear indication of victory for the visitors and it came as no surprise when substitute Kwofie tapped in a well-laid pass from Annan who had no difficulty in dealing with defender Iddrisu Sumaila of Olympics to slot in the ball in the 89th minute.
Olympics though responded positively by launching a swift attack on Lions in a bid to snatch the equaliser, but the Lions defence pivoted around stalwarts like Jerry Akaminko and tall lanky John Boye ensured that all efforts were thwarted to keep their lead intact. The lone goal victory has ensured that Lions maintain a clean sheet within the two-week old premiership, whilst Olympics seem not have found an antidote to their struggle in the competition.
