Premiership to go on break again

Accra, Sept 21, GNA - The National GT-sponsored Premier League will take another break following the participation of Kumasi King Faisal in the Confederation Cup competition on Sunday.

Faisal are billed to play Fello Stars of Guinea in the second round of the competition on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. A information gathered from the offices of the Professional League Board (PLB) by the GNA Sports indicates that the continuation of the League would mean Faisal having another outstanding game in the premiership hence the decision to halt the League temporally.

Faisal already have one outstanding game against Real Tame United (RTU) and there are fears of a negative influence on the Premiership if the League continues on Sunday without the Kumasi team. According to the information, the League is expected to resume on Wednesday, September 28 at all the league centres for the 24th week league matches.

However, with the senior national team, the Black Stars programmed to begin camping for their last World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde on October 2, there are indications that there would only be two premiership games when the League resumes next week.

This is because the League would have to go on break to make way for the preparations of the Stars ahead of the Cape Verde game, hence the remaining five league matches would be cleared after October 9, when the Stars might have completed their World Cup assignment. The premiership has this year witnessed series of breaks as a result of some national assignments.
