Real Tamale United opened a five-point lead in the National Division One League after thrashing Tamale Utrecht 3-0 in the big derby on Sunday.
The victory ensured the former Premier League campaigners completed the double over their city rivals after beating them 2-0 in the corresponding fixture.
The pride of the north scored twice in the first against a struggling Utrecht side that appeared exhausted in the early stages of the match.
However, Tamale Utrecht looked a bit composed in the second when Alhassan Kalusha was introduced into the game for struggling Mohammed Awal Issah.
They however failed to create the chances upfront to cancel the lead.
United was able to contain the surge of Utrecht in attack and succeeded in pushing men forward on attack that created problems for the defence of their opponent as one of such attempts that gave RTU their third goal of the day.
