Asante Kotoko suffered their second successive defeat after a 2-1 reverse to ten-man New Edubiase United in Kumasi.
The champions were unable to sustain a mounted fight back to ultimately finish the game at the Baba Yara Stadium empty handed with a second straight defeat in the Ghanaian top flight.
Nuhu Fuseini opened the scoring for the visitors after just 12 minutes. But Ahmed Adams drew back minutes later after heading in an inch-perfect cross from Eric Donkor.
But Kotoko’s joy was short lived as Edubiase struck again moments later through Felix Afriyie.
Coach David Duncan in an attempt to have his team back level put Ahmed Toure in at the start of the second half to add more verve to the Kotoko attack.
And though the hosts kept pressing for the equalizer Edubiase defended with their lives to hold onto their slim lead.
The Edubiase players needed to play beyond themselves after a 50th minute sending off of Tahiru Malik.
Kotoko however have themselves to blame for missing the several chances that came their way.
The best opportunity fell to defender Abeiku Ainooson who inexplicably missed with only the goal to aim for with just seven minutes of play left.
Edubiase however held on to clinch the famous win which will definitely pile the pressure on David Duncan whose side suffered a defeat at the start of the second half of the season to Heart of Lions last weekend.
