Ten-man Hearts of Oak beat All Stars 1-0 to record their first win at the Wa Park in four seasons to maintain their hunt for the Ghana league title.

Striker Mahatma Otoo returned to the score sheet after 34 minutes when All Stars goalkeeper mis-timed his jump.

Otoo, who has come under pressure for his recent poor conversion rate, coolly turned home the winner to sending the travelling fans into ecstasy.

Hearts were numerically reduced three minutes later when Philip Boampong was given his marching orders for a second yellow card offence.

The centre-back went in with a big boot clearance and that was not tolerated by the centre man.

The goal was a travesty for All Stars who took charge of the game and were denied a penalty after Samuel Ezemaba pushed Samuel Gyasi off the ball in the 18-yard box.

Referee Ametepey did not take any of the penalty shouts from the fans and players of All Stars.

Despite playing without one man, Hearts maintained their composure in the 32nd minute when goalscorer Otoo centre from an over-head kick and a real chance fell to Darkeh but he failed to get there in time for a simple tap in.

Hearts goalkeeper Sammy Adjei put up a man-of-match display by denying the home side goals in the second half.

The win will keep Hearts in third place and two points behind leaders Asante Kotoko and are tied on points with second-place Berekum Chelsea.
