Rev John Ntim Fordjour is the Member of Parliament for Assin South
The Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, has questioned claims that 15,000 members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency have defected to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), describing the assertion as misleading and exaggerated.
His reaction follows the circulation of images on social media alleged to depict a large-scale defection of NPP supporters in the area.
Rev. Ntim Fordjour, who also serves as Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, cast doubt on the credibility of the figures being touted, arguing that the visuals shared do not correspond with the magnitude of the claim.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please meet the ‘15,000 new NDC members in Assin South’. This picture certainly doesn’t match the claim, but they insist they’re ‘15,000 in the spirit’,” he wrote in a social media post on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
Despite disputing the numbers, the Assin South MP stressed that the party remains committed to retaining every supporter, noting that even a single defection would not be taken lightly.
Referencing biblical teachings in Luke 15 and Matthew 18, he reaffirmed his resolve to reconnect with any individual who may have left the party.
“Even if only one person defects from the NPP, my team and I will engage with humility and perseverance to win them back. Every vote counts,” he stated.
