Cape Coast, May 11, GNA - Mr Kwamena Duncan, Central Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), said on Tuesday that the NPP parliamentary primaries had made the main opposition party more united.
Mr Duncan said the NPP saw the primaries as 93a very crucial assignment" that needed all hands on deck to clench power in the 2012 General Election from the ruling National Democratic Congress. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Cape Coast, he said lessons learnt from the 2008 General Elections were still fresh in the memory of members. Mr Duncan said members were therefore ready to go all out to campaign and work hard, leaving nothing to chance to secure the ultimate objective of winning power in Election 2012. He said the national leadership of the Party led by its Flagbearer, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo was in the Region last week to encourage the rank and file of the NPP to bury their differences and collectively work harder for victory. Mr Duncan said the parliamentary candidates were currently forming campaign committees, bringing on board all those who lost the primaries, with the aim to secure more parliamentary seats for the NPP. He stressed: 93The better we do in the parliamentary (election) the likelihood that we will win the Presidential (election)." Mr Duncan said those who lost the primaries had pledged their unflinching support for the parliamentary candidates to ensure victory for the Party. He called on all party faithful, to remain committed and resolute for the task ahead.
