With less than two months to go for the 2024 elections, the campaign of Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has gathered incredible momentum across the country.
From North to South, East to West, Dr. Bawumia's campaign has drawn huge numbers in every region and constituency he has visited so far since he started his latest tour of the country.
Noticeably, the majority of the mammoth crowds for Bawumia have been mostly young people who throng his evening community connect programmes in their numbers. With the majority of registered voters being the youth, that is an encouraging sign for the Bawumia campaign.
In many places Bawumia has visited, these enthusiastic young crowds often display remarkable affection for him by either waiting for him for several hours to welcome him or defying endless rains.
In Abuakwa in the Eastern Region, Chereponi in the North East Region, Amenfi in the Western Region, and just last weekend in Wenchi in the Bono Region, and many other places, supporters have had to stay in the rain with Dr. Bawumia, hence exhibiting their love and support for him.
Bawumia's popularity has not only been with the youth. At his meet and greet sessions on the streets, lorry stations, markets, and surprise visits to homes, he has received tremendous support from market women, drivers, and the general public who often lay the red carpet for him.
At his stakeholder engagements where he meets Chiefs, Imams, Pastors, and community leaders, Dr. Bawumia has been receiving massive applause from traditional rulers and religious leaders for both his distinct character and impact.
Almost every traditional ruler he has called upon has had complimentary words, highlighting his hard work, humility, and his relentless commitment to supporting the Akufo-Addo government.
While Imams and Zongo Chiefs have been expressing their appreciation to him for the support he has been offering them, Pastors alike have been commending him for his remarkable spirit of diversity and vision.
Just as Bawumia has been receiving commendations, the government of Nana Akufo-Addo, of which he has served as Vice President since 2017, has also been receiving words of commendation from traditional rulers for what they often describe as impactful and timely social interventions.
Across the country during the stakeholders' meetings, traditional rulers have been expressing their utmost appreciation to the government, pointing to specific infrastructure projects in their communities in addition to the impact of Free SHS and the DRIP machines for the renovation of community roads.
Outside Bawumia's own campaign tours, other campaign activities, especially in the form of "walks for Bawumia" across the country, have been attracting huge numbers in support of the Vice President.
In Tamale, for instance, which used to be a stronghold of the NDC, the NPP pulled stunning numbers over the weekend in the city during a "walk for Bawumia" exercise.
As the campaign heats up, Bawumia has shown remarkable energy and hard work in his approach, and with less than two months to go, his popularity is evidently on the rise across the country.
