Ataa Dankwa, the mother of Thomas Amoani, a brilliant beneficiary of the Free Senior High School (SHS) program and a government scholarship, has expressed her gratitude and support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 election, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
During a campaign event in the Eastern Region, Ataa Dankwa took the stage to share her story, highlighting how Dr. Bawumia's intervention changed her life and that of her son.
"My name is Ataa Dankwa, and my son is Thomas Amoani, the boy who passed his exams here. When Dr. Bawumia heard of me, he said he would help me because I did not have any support. Truly, he helped me, and today, me, Ataa Dankwa, my name is all over Ghana and the world, but this is just me. So please, I plead that you vote for Bawumia for me. Thank you all," she stated.
After Ataa Dankwa concluded her speech, Dr. Bawumia, visibly moved, joined her on stage to embrace her.
Her son, Thomas Amoani, first gained national attention after completing Adeiso SHS in 2020 with remarkable academic performance, scoring 8As in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). His achievement caught the eye of President Nana Akufo-Addo, who directed the Scholarship Secretariat to offer him an award, enabling him to further his studies in the United Kingdom.
Amoani's academic journey at Brunel University has been nothing short of extraordinary. He emerged as the overall best student in Economics at the university in 2022 and continued to excel, ultimately graduating with First Class Honours.
