Ekumfi Essarkyir (C/R), Nov 10, GNA - The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO), made up of 34 organisations and institutions is to train 521 election observers for the December election in the Central Region.
To facilitate the training programme, the region has been divided into five zones including Mfantseman, Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam and Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, which would have the training at Saltpond, while Cape Coast Municipal and Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem observers would be trained in Cape Coast.
Observers from Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, Assin North and Assin South would have their training at Assin Fosu, Twifu-Heman-Lower Denkyira and Upper Denkyira would be at Assin Praso, whilst that of Gomoa, Agona and Awutu-Effutu-Senya Districts would be trained at Agona Swedr0u.
Mr Issah Mumuni Dimbie, Deputy Central Regional Co-ordinator for Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), at Ekumfi Essarkyir said the training would be completed before the end of November.
Mr Dimbie, who is the Headmaster for Ekumfi Ahmadiyya Secondary School at Essairkyir, said CODEO was committed to ensuring free, fair and transparent election and appealed to politicians and their supporters as well as the Electoral Commission to conduct their activities in a transparent manner.
