Bolgatanga, Aug 25, GNA - Mr. Sulley Agholisi, a 57-year-old former District Chief Executive for Bawku West, on Monday declared his intention to contest for the parliamentary seat of Zebilla constituency. Mr. Agholisi, an educationist and one time PNDC District Secretary for the then Bawku District, said he intended to focus on improving education and working to reduce poverty in the Bawku West District when elected in December.

"I shall collaborate with the District Assembly, NGO's and other stake holders such as the Toende Students Union to establish a fund to support education in the district", he said in a statement. He said the operation and management of the fund would be free of partisan political control and past beneficiaries would be encouraged to support the scheme so as to ensure that it is sustained. On poverty reduction and economic empowerment, Mr. Agholisi said he would encourage the formation and operation of viable producer and consumer co-operative societies that would be more beneficial to farmers and small scale businesses.

He said he would pursue an agenda of unity in diversity, making the welfare and development of the district the cardinal and ultimate goal. He appealed to the people of Bawku West to support and vote for him, saying, "I promise all a sincere, humble and honest service."
