Abuakwa South NPP votes today

Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Abuakwa South Constituency of the Eastern Region will have the opportunity to elect their executives at Akyem Apapam today.

NPP members at Abuakwa South, which is the home constituency of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Samuel Atta Akyea, the incumbent MP, could not take part in nationwide exercise last weekend because of some misunderstandings among the party members.

The polls were postponed on the orders of Regional Chairman Kiston Akomeng Kissi.

All the various positions in the constituency are being contested and a youth activist Nana Yaw Osene-Akwah aka Nana Asem Bi Nti has expressed his intention to become the next Constituency Secretary.

Nana Asem Bi Nti, who doubles as the Convener of a pressure group called ‘Eastern Patriots’ and currently pursuing B.A Communication Studies, said the NPP needs competent people to manage the affairs of the party.

He told DAILY GUIDE that he and other party members contributed to the 2016 victory of the NPP in the region by organizing some youth called ‘Patriots” to thwart the NDC’s Agenda 50/50.

“The constituency elections in Abuakwa South are going to be based on competence and for that matter I have offered myself to the delegates to be voted for as the Secretary.”

“The then ruling NDC targeted the constituency because of President Akufo-Addo, but we were able to expose their lies and got the electorate to believe in our message.”

“The delegates have listened to my campaign message and I believe I have what it takes to win the primaries in the Abuakwa South.”

Nana Asem Bi Nti added that his ultimate goal is to build a strong communication system in the constituency and promote the welfare of delegates at the grassroots level.
