Fomena (Ash), May 4, GNA - Alhaji Abdul Latef Majdoub, the President's nominee for District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Adansi North District, has secured the two-thirds majority votes by the Assembly, to gain his confirmation.

Thirty-four Assembly members voted in his favour whilst 16 voted against at a meeting held at Fomena on Thursday, and attended by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Opoku Manu, the NDC Regional chairman, Mr Daniel Ohene Agyekum and Nana Abu Bonsrah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Fomena.

The Assembly had earlier elected Mr Prince Abu Bonsrah, Assembly member for Ayaase, as the Presiding Member (PM) after four rounds of voting during which his contestant, Mr George K. Boateng withdrew before the last round.

Addressing the Assembly, the Regional Minister, expressed his appreciation to the various assemblies in the Region who have honoured the President by confirming their DCEs. He pointed out that the concept of district assemblies was a vehicle for local development and that people should not introduce partisan politics into the confirmation of DCEs. Mr Opoku Manu advised assembly members to be development-oriented, instead of allowing party affiliation to divide their ranks. Nana Abu Bonsrah, the MP, told the Assembly members that the paramount issue was the development of Adansi State adding that, "whatever politics we play should end on the development of Adansi State".

In his acceptance speech, the DCE called for prayers and co-operation from the entire Assembly members to enable the District move forward in development.
