Adenta NDC brands Enquirer, Republic newspapers as deceptive

Two private newspapers have been branded as deceptive by executives of the National Democratic Congress after attacking the personality of Mr Prosper Douglas Bani, Chief of Staff.

The Adenta Constituency Executives have disassociated themselves from the 'Enquirer' and the 'Republic, following their headlines 'Adenta NDC tells Chief of Staff enough is enough,' and 'Adenta NDC sits on a time bomb, Chief of Staff stands accused.'

According to a statement, the executives found the publications to be an unfair and unjust attack on the Chief of Staff, seeing it as 'an attempt by some individuals to create the impression that the Adenta NDC is up in arms with the Chief of Staff'.

It said there was a well-intended meeting organized by some assembly members who are also members of the NDC to deliberate on the way forward to the Municipality, which was attended by Nii Ashie Moore, local MP, but the Constituency Executives were not represented at the said meeting.

The statement said the MP spoke in his personal capacity and not for or on behalf of the NDC Party in the Adentan Constituency.

It said: “As he very well knows, he is MP for all political parties in the Constituency; as such if he must speak on behalf of the of the parties he needs to consult the party Chairman in question before making a statement associating it to a particular party.

“We the Executives, which he is a member, are at our uttermost surprise that the MP, who should have a major say in who becomes a Municipal Chief Executive is rather throwing his hands up in dispel and blaming innocent people for his own incompetence in the way he has handled the MCE issues in the Municipality.

“We wish to state categorically that the party leaders in Adentan as Executives have no evidence to the fact that the Chief of Staff is culpable in all the allegations levelled against him in the publications. We, therefore, render an unqualified apology to the Chief of Staff, Mr. Proper Douglas Bani and any persons who were maligned by the said publications.”
