Confusion and bitterness rocked the Odododiodio constituency of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Greater Accra Region last Wednesday, when party supporters who crowded at the constituency office to listen to reports from the marathon meeting between regional executives of the party and constituency chairmen in the region, went berserk and cast insinuations at party executives.

One of the top leaders of the party who faced the wrath of the supporters was the Mayor of Accra, Stanley Adjiri Blankson.

Launching attacks on the mayor, supporters nearly heckled him despite the huge police presence. They described him as an NDC supporter who was against the NPP.

NPP supporters who accused the AMA boss of supporting the National Democratic Congress said he was the cause of some of the problems of the party, taking into consideration, the decongestion exercise.

However, the AMA boss diplomatically refused to respond to the accusations of the irate supporters.

Party supporters who thronged the general meeting could not hide their feelings about the position of the party not to go through primaries to select a candidate to lead the party in the constituency.

Security guards accompanying the regional minister, Sheikh I.C Quaye, had to fire their guns to disperse the angry crowd as they surged through the crowd.

The national organizer, Lord Commey who was at the meeting to discuss the details with supporters, went through a hard time.

Earlier, Dr Nyaho-Nyaho Tamakloe, a leading member of the NPP who was at the venue left the meeting unceremoniously to avoid any embarrassment.

? Maybe he has something to do or he just decided to leave the scene to avoid trouble,? an angry supporter said.

On what warranted the confusion, the Chronicle learnt that members were not happy with names mentioned by the national organizer on Peace FM, a local radio station, as being the potential candidates.

Lord Commey was reported to have mentioned personalities like himself, Adjiri Blankson, Eddie Annan and others, sidelining the names that were popping up in the constituency.

Supporters of the potential candidates were in red, singing and shouting just to disrupt proceedings at the meeting.

But when Lord Commey managed to take the microphone, he prevailed upon the supporters to be calm and told them that the party in its own wisdom would do everything possible to retain the seat.

He urged them to go by the resolve at their last meeting that they will close their ranks and rally support for any candidate put across by the party.

According to Mr Commey, the executives have resolves to open nominations for all legible candidates to apply after which screening would be done to select the marketable candidate to win the seat.
