Suzzy Afua Adoboe has promised to throw her weight behind popular actor John Dumelo in the 2020 Parliamentary elections a day after she was defeated in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries.
Mr. Dumelo, on Saturday, had the mandate to contest the Ayawaso West Wougon Constituency parliamentary elections on the ticket of the NDC following a resounding victory over Madam Adoboe.
He polled 758 votes while Adoboe garnered a paltry 99 votes out of the 859 votes cast of which two ballots rejected.
In a statement congratulating Dumelo, Adoboe made known her intentions to rally behind the victor so the party wins the seat.
She said: “I wish to assure him and the entire NDC family that I will always be available to support him and the NDC as we fight to win the seat for the NDC come 2020.”
Earlier, Dumelo called for unity in his victory speech.
“I cannot do this job without the involvement and openness of the people I represent,” he said. “You have taken the time to share with me your ideas, your concerns, and I sincerely appreciate your willingness to discuss what really matters to you.
“Not only have you entrusted me with the responsibility of speaking on your behalf as your parliamentary candidate but you also continue to provide me with the ideas and feedback I need to make this constituency great.”

Meanwhile, National Chairman of the party, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has charged members, especially winners of the just ended primaries, to focus on unseating the Akufo-Addo government.
According to Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo, winning the 2020 polls cannot be achieved without hard work.
“For we have only one adversary, the NPP, and we need to focus all our energies on the effort to get the people of Ghana to elect us to replace the confused and clueless President Akufo-Addo and his government,” a statement from him read.
