Agona Nsaba, C/R, Feb 28, GNA - The Agona East Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is constructing a 700-million-cedi two-storey building office complex at Agona Nsaba in the Central Region. Nana Kojo Frempong, Chairman of the branch, announced this when he conducted newsmen round the project at the weekend.
He said 60 million cedis had so far been spent on the project, which was at the floor level, adding that the plot for the building was acquired from funds raised during the 2004 General Election. Nana Frempong stated that the eight room building would include a library, offices, auxiliary rooms for the MP and the DCE, a snack bar and a conference room.
The Chairman stated that all the 98 polling stations under the branch were contributing three bags of cement each towards the project while the party was raising funds through voluntary contributions and other resources to complete the complex.
Nana Frempong explained that this would encourage the Polling Station Chairmen to feel a sense of owning the party, adding that the project would be completed in August this year.
He noted that the library would be well stocked to enable the constituency executives and other party members to go and research about the party to enable them to explain government policies and programmes. The Chairman pointed out that the MP and DCE would fix days to meet party members to discuss matters affecting their welfare instead of trooping to their houses to discuss problems.
Nana Frempong said the executives would organise a two-day workshop for the Polling Station Chairmen to sensitise them on the Representation of the People Amendment Act signed by the President last Friday, the National Health Insurance Scheme and other government policies and programmes.
