Agona West Assembly fails to elect PM

Members of Agona West Municipal Assembly failed to elect a Presiding Member (PM) after two rounds of voting in an election held at a special meeting of the Assembly.

The election was presided and supervised by officials of Agona West Municipal Electoral Commission led by Mr Kwame Amoah, the Municipal Electoral Officer.

Mr Haruna Nuhu Sani, incumbent PM was the sole candidate to file his nomination for the post at the close of receiving nomination forms.

He, however, obtained 28 votes in the first round and 29 votes in the second round indicating a failure to obtain 31 votes needed out of the 44 total Assembly votes to be confirmed.

The Assembly will reconvene within two weeks to elect the PM.
