The founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) in the 2012 elections, Madam Akua Donkor, was chased away from the voting centre of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Tongo in the Talensi District in the Upper East Region by an angry youth of the NPP.

Madam Akua Donkor, in the company of her supporters, numbering about 15, arrived on motorbikes and a pickup mounted with a public address system at the Tongo Social Centre where the NPP primary was taking place last Sunday.

She alighted with her supporters and headed towards the voting centre to interact with some observers.

It was when she was returning to her vehicle that the angry youth of the party rushed on her and started banging her vehicle, accusing her of having been paid by the NDC to come and disorganise their elections.

She had to be whisked away by her driver, disrupting an interview she was about to grant media persons covering the primary.

All efforts by Graphic Online to locate Akua Donkor and her supporters to find out their motive for being in the region proved futile, as the GFP has no office in the region and none of her supporters could be traced.
