Akufo-Addo is a local champion - Ablakwa jabs

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has jabbed the president over his posture during his address to the nation last week.

Okudzeto Ablakwa observed that the President was robust and engaged in needless name calling especially towards people who have opposed aspects of the US military deal.

The president last week addressed the nation in an attempt to bring finality to the issue which has been trending since it became public.

The North Tongu legislator argued that instead of the president being tough in speech to his citizens, he should instead be a 'champion' of what he does before his peers abroad.

The jab appears to be sending a message to the president and the government of his disapproval of the deal and the provisions of the agreement.

Many in the minority, including the North Tongu MP, have bashed the government for negotiating good terms in the interest of the country.

"I posit this evening that we want our president to be an international champion and not a local champion. We are not interested in local titles on fight at Bukom, we want our president to also take it to the international level, to madison square arena to win us international titles, to be an international champion. Let us see the robustness and the muscle bring us something in negotiations not on us, innocent, defenceless, miserable citizens" Ablakwa stated before a charged crowd at the Law Faculty of the University of Ghana.

These sentiments were expressed at a programme organised by the Ghana First Patriotic Front which saw hundreds of people patronising.

Notable members of the opposition were present including NDC General Secretary, Asiedu Nketia, Former NSS boss, Kpessah-Whyte, Hannah Bissiw and PNC Chairman Bernard Mornah.
