National Communicator of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has commented on the missing 500 excavators seized from illegal miners, stating that God will not spare Akufo-Addo and his government in its entirety for their evil deeds that are plunging the country into destruction.

He alleged that President Akufo-Addo is an enabler of corruption in Ghana, therefore he does not see anything wrong prosecuting NPP ‘big wigs’ involved in illegal mining.

At a press conference in Accra, Thursday, February 6, 2020, the NDC Communications Officer intimated that “all the monies you have stolen were not enough for you. Through the bost scandal, the AMERI scandal, the PDS scandal and all the scandals were not enough. Now you are selling excavators, you are stealing tricycles, you are engaging in galamsey, what kind of greed is this?”

He averred that “It will be a complete waste of time for us to call for the dissolution of the interministerial committee against illegal mining, and all anti-galamsey task force such as operation vanguard, galamstop and so on because as for this our president Akufo-Addo, he sees no evil and hears no evil when it comes to thievery and corruption by his officials."

He indicated that this corruptible behaviour of the Akufo-Addo led administration does not come as a surprise to the NDC any longer, declaring that, President Akufo-Addo has never been committed to the fight against the illegal mining as well as the fight against corruption in Ghana.

However, Sammy Gyamfi is calling on President Akufo-Addo who placed his presidency on the line to help in the fight against galamsey to account for this fight.

He also called for the arrest of the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Professor Frimpong Boateng for becoming both a player and enabler of illicit galamsey trade.

Sammy Gyamfi promised that persons involved in the stealing of the 500 excavators would be brought to book when NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama is voted back into office as President in the 2020 polls.
