President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s driver, Joseph Addo, has won the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries for the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency.

The party scheduled the parliamentary primaries of the constituency for April 27, 2024, after their initial candidate, Dr. Gerald Joseph Tetteh resigned, citing personal reasons for his decision.

Joseph Addo, according to TV3, beat his only contender, Solomon Kotey Niikio, the Municipal Chief Executive for the La Dade-Kotopon District Assembly, to be the NPP parliamentary candidate come December 7, 2024.

After filing his nomination to contest in the NPP primaries, Addo pledged to reclaim the seat for the NPP, emphasising his roots within the community.

“I was born and bred here in La, I have lived all my life here, so, I am not new in this constituency. I have helped the youth in this area get jobs and employment in government agencies.

“Recently, when the party needed an office space after the destruction of the old office, I personally worked to get a new office for the party,” he said.

Joseph Addo is expected to face stiff competition from Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, the sitting MP for the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency and the parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 elections.
