Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has briefly suspended his campaign for the flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party to enable him and Party officers in the various regions monitor the limited voter registration exercise scheduled to take place from August 4 to August 13, 2014.

Addressing delegates of the New Patriotic Party in Wa, as part of his campaign tour of the region, Nana Akufo-Addo told delegates on Friday that he had decided to suspend his campaign "to show you how seriously I am taking this exercise," adding that "winning election 2016 starts now."

"I believe all of you here will be playing a leading role in our Party's efforts to monitor the registration exercise. I will urge you to be vigilant and take this exercise seriously," he said.

The suspension of his campaign, according to Nana Addo, is for two main reasons.

"Firstly, to allow you, in the regions, constituencies and polling stations to concentrate all your attention on this registration exercise. Secondly, I also want to get involved in going around to assist in the monitoring of the exercise," he added, to a rapturous applause from the delegates.

Nana Addo also sent a clarion call to all NPP officials, all NPP members and sympathisers, and all patriotic Ghanaians to assist in making the registration exercise a complete success.

"Let us all assist the Party's agents in whichever way that we can to help them succeed in this 10-day exercise. If you can contribute in the Party's efforts to monitor, please do so. And let me repeat, winning 2016 begins from now," he concluded.

Nana Akufo-Addo's campaign will resume on August 14, the day after the registration exercise ends, with the Eastern Region being his next point of call.
