Kyebi, Nov 6, GNA - Peace returned to the camp of the Abuakwa South Constituency of the New Patriotic Party when feuding executive members of the party resolved on Sunday to bury differences that nearly destroyed the unity of the party in the constituency.
The members declared their confidence in the Constituency Chairman, Mr Kwasi Okyere, the Secretary, Mr Yaw Bampo Koranteng and the Women Organizer, Awo Ntiamoa at a meeting attended by leading party members in the constituency as well as 72 of the 79 polling station chairpersons.
The three executive members were at the centre of the dispute. They were accused of misapplying the Common Fund of the Member of Parliament for the area and their inability to account for some party funds.
A regional disciplinary committee exonerated them but after the release of the report, the constituency First Vice Chairman, Mr Abu Bonsrah, the Treasurer, Ms Georgina Anim, the Youth Organizer, Nana Owusu and the Assistant Secretary, Ms Emma Obeng issued a statement condemning the findings of the committee.
The statement accused members of the committee and the regional executive members of the party NPP of covering up the wrong doings of the three persons.
In a communiqu=E9 issued at the end of the meeting on Sunday at Kyebi, the polling station chairmen of the party in the constituency who initiated the action against the three last March accepted the findings and recommendations of the disciplinary committee.
The polling station chairmen reaffirmed their confidence in the three executive members but urged them "to continue their functions in an environment of reconciliation".
The polling station chairmen also reaffirmed their loyalty to the MP for the area Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and pledged to support him in all his endeavours.
