The internal electoral button has already been activated in the New Patriotic Party and many parliamentary aspirants are doing all they can to either get elected or retained at post.
However, a decision by Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a former flagbearer aspirant of the NPP, to openly campaign for Amankwah Owusu Collins, the incumbent MP for Manhyia North Constituency, has not gone down well with party executives in the area.
Mr. Kyerematen is reported to have met 9 out of 11 NPP Electoral Area Coordinators at the Jofel Catering Service in Kumasi and discussed with them the need to retain Hon. Amankwah Owusu Collins as against his main contender, Nana Osei Bamfo.
For this reason, the area executives led by the First Vice Chairman, Mr. Barfour and Organizer, Alhaji Castro, have decided to petition their National and Regional Executives to inform them about the confusion Mr. Kyerematen has created in the area through his campaign.
The executives claim that looking at Mr. Kyerematen’s status in the party, it is wrong for him to come out and openly tell delegates to vote for his preferred candidate.
According to them Mr. Kyerematen’s decision to pitch the parliamentary candidates against each other by campaigning for one, would make others think he has an agenda against the fortunes of the party in 2016.
