Fellow Delegates and Patriots,
As published in the media a couple of days ago, this new pressure group, Get Alan Kyerematen Elected (GAKE) which was formed recently in Kumasi, is spreading like a wildfire in harmattan. This is a true indication that a lot NPP's delegates have embraced the idea. As of last week, 100 NPP delegates in Ashanti Region alone had shown interest and registered. However, after the publication, this number has tremendously increased to 250. I could not even enjoy the May Day celebration as the calls kept coming from all corners of the country with delegates showing interest in setting up branches in other regions. Let me hasten to say kudos to all those who called and made commitment to GAKE's cause. As I promised you, we will be moving from region to region, constituency to constituency, district to district, and polling station to polling station in due course. We would be reaching out to every single delegate and sell our message of hope without any insults. It is our belief that, come next year when the NPP's Congress is held, the change that took place in the recently held national executive elections in Tamale, will repeat itself in the flagbearership contest.
It is interesting to note that the Ghanaian voter does not give his/her precious vote out just because one particular party has improved the economy, or another party is bedevilled with corruption. Else, either the NPP would have retained power in Election 2008 because NHIS, or the NDC would have lost Election 2012 because of the payment of judgement debts. Again, there is nothing like sympathy votes in elections else, all NPP members would have voted for John Mahama and his NDC in Election 2012 because of Prof. Mills' death.
As stated clearly in my previous write-ups, the Ghanaian voter's vote is based on three key factors. These are political party affiliation, tribal affiliation, and personality traits. It has been proven in all general elections that an NPP member will never vote for an NDC presidential candidate and vice versa, though there could be a few exceptions. Similarly, tribal voting has been synonymous with our elections since time immemorial. These two electoral factors can be said to be entrenched in our current democratic dispensation. Regrettably, the third factor, which is personality traits, has been overlooked by our beloved party, the NPP. We keep denigrating people who cast their votes based on beauty, stature, and posture. We also castigate voters who take GHC5.00 and vote for candidates. It is for this reason that the NPP is in opposition today. We look down upon the voting criteria of the head potters, truck pushers, the poor, and other floating voters. Why should the NPP behave this way? Why can't we as a party give to voters what they want? And how many times does the NPP want to impose a political commodity to political consumers who are not ready and willing to have a taste?
Brethren, it is against this backdrop that GAKE is born. GAKE is here to educate the NPP delegates on the need to change our political commodity which has already expired, if not expiring at 73 years. The NPP is not a one-man party. It is a party that honours its own people for hard work. We have given others more than one opportunity to win power for us. But, what is the state of the NPP in 2014? We are still walloping in opposition and majority of Ghanaians are suffering. Why can't we try another market to see which one has more traders and buyers? Why can't we try a different product, if the consumers keep rejecting our precious commodity? "Mpanin se, abaa daho a, y3mma okraman Nkansa y3n".
It therefore behoves on us to study our political opponent critically and find out why he attracts voters more than our candidate. Fortunately, we have a man in our party whose attributes overshadow those of John Mahama. He is no other person than Hon. John Alan Kyerematen, (JAK the second). Alan symbolises everything good about human being. He has good looks; he is tall, gentle, giant, humble, energetic, calm, and peaceful. He is cast in the mould of former president Kufuor (JAK the first). And since he is ordained to be the last John for the 4th Republic, I have no doubt that Alan Cash, as he is affectionally called, would appeal to the floating voters. Therefore, if we have tried Nana-Bawumia and it has not worked for the NPP on two occasions, why not try Alan-Bawumia and see what God has for us?
Folks, join the crusade to make Alan Kyerematen, the Flagbearer of the NPP for Election 2016. Remember, the NPP needs just one region to win power. Alan who hails from both Central and Ashanti Regions is the man to lead us into victory. He will have the backing of the party gurus- Kufuor, Mpiani, Afoko, Agyapong, Otiko, Crabbe, Blay etc who know how to win power for the party. Let's not try to be stubborn flies and follow the corpse to the grave. Let's give Alan just one chance and see the future of the NPP.
