Almost 82 percent of Ghanaians are willing to vote in the pending elections - NCCE

A report by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has shown that 81.8 percent of eligible voters are willing to vote in the pending elections.

Presenting the findings of the report in Accra on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, the Director of Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation at the NCCE, Dr. Henrietta Sarpong, also stated that more females aged between 22 and 29 are willing to vote as compared to the males in the same age bracket.

"We also ascertained willingness to vote in the upcoming elections. We had 81.8 percent, and the picture was similar for parliamentary elections. More males than females had an intention to vote.

"Looking at that, we had more females, that is, those between the ages of 22 and 29, who were in the majority", she added.

Touching on regional distribution for voter willingness, she said the North-East Region recorded the highest population of individuals willing to cast their vote in the pending elections.

"Looking at regional distribution of willingness to vote, we had the North-East Region recording the highest population of individuals who are willing to vote, followed by the Northern Region, the Upper West Region, and the Oti Region," she said.
