The Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Accra, Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih, has expressed worry over the Electoral Commission disqualifying the PNC Presidential Candidate, Bernard Mornah.
The Amir described the PNC presidential candidate as an intelligent nationalistic person who does not deserve the ordeal he is going through under EC Chair, Jean Mensa, and has subsequently appealed to the EC Chair to put Bernard Mornah back in the race.
Maulvi Bin Salih made the statement during a visit on him by the PNC flagbearer and leadership of the party to his office in Accra on Monday (October 14, 2024).
“Bernard Mornah talks about national issues on TV and Radio and that makes him a Nationalist.
"The EC is not a God to itself. It must be accountable to the people of Ghana,” the Amir said.
He also noted with disdain the EC’s continuous argument that it is independent and therefore can not be advised maintaining that “independence does not mean dont listen to wisdom”
“Independent is the person who listens to wisdom and uses it to guide her operation. Instead of accepting what you are saying they dodge it and tell you they are independent. That is not what is going to help us as a country”, the Amir emphasised.
The Amir encouraged Mr. Mornah to continue his selfless fight for the country’s economic and democratic freedom stressing that “we certainly need someone like you to lead the country.”
On his part, the PNC Presidential Candidate commended the Amir for the warm reception and encouragement, explaining that the visit was to pay homage to the Amir and seek guidance and blessings from him as he laces his boots for the political onslaught.
He later described his disqualification as wrongful and unfair adding that the EC, since the disqualification has been shifting the goal post and lying about the reason for the disqualification.
He questioned the EC’s locus in determining criminality in the nomination forms after its failed attempt to justify reasons for the disqualification.
He said he is encouraged and motivated by the antecedents of Limann, Egala and Kwame Nkrumah whom he said contributed to genuine development of the country, insisting that he is unperturbed by the machinations against him and that he will come out victorious.
“I’m bringing these issues out because a lot of lies have been said about me but we are confident that we will win the court case and be on the ballot”, Mr. Mornah fumed.
EC Under Pressure to Put Bernard Mornah on Ballot.
Mr. Mornah said as the next President of Ghana, he is hopeful that his policy of nationalization of the local dialect and distribution of 60% of the state’s mineral resources to the citizenry would help turn the fortunes of the country around and mitigate the untold hardship currently being experienced by GhanaIan’s.
The EC continues to receive bashing over the disqualification of Bernard Mornah.
Over the weekend, the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, criticised the disqualification of Bernard Mornah, the presidential candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC), from the upcoming 2024 election.
Speaking at a rally in Wa, in the Upper West Region, Mr Mahama claimed that Mr Mornah was more deserving of a place on the ballot than some of the candidates who were approved.
He also accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of deliberately sidelining the PNC candidate.
“The PNC is a more worthy party than several parties that I see on the ballot paper, but that is the issue with the EC, sometimes they are discriminatory because there are some people on this ballot paper who Bernard Mornah qualifies more to be here than them,” he said.
