Duayaw Nkwanta (B/A), June 17, GNA - Members of Tano North District Assembly on Friday confirmed the nomination of Mr Nicholas Anane-Adjei, as District Chief Executive. He polled 24 out of the 26 votes cast by the Assembly members at a special general meeting to become the first DCE nominee to be confirmed in Brong Ahafo. One vote was declared invalid while one was against in the peaceful and orderly exercise supervised by officials of the Regional Electoral Commission led by Mr Yahaya Mahama, Deputy Regional Electoral Commissioner.

President Kufuor has so far nominated candidates for 16 out of the 19 districts in the Region. After the declaration of the result, jubilant female members of the Assembly smeared powder, a sign of victory, on Mr Anane-Adjei and other officials at the high table including Mr Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Deputy Regional Minister, Mr Kwadwo Fordjour, Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman and other NPP functionaries.

Mr Baffour-Awuah thanked the Assembly for the peaceful exercise and urged them to study the NPP manifesto to know the agenda of the government to improve the living conditions of Ghanaians. He asked them to help the NPP to grow so that the government could achieve set targets in Positive Change Chapter Two and gave the assurance that the Regional Co-ordinating Council would be "deeply involved in your activities and offer the necessary support".

The Deputy Regional Minister reminded the confirmed DCE that the people's expectation were high and he dared not fail them, as that would mean the government failing them. Mr Baffour-Awuah advised him to co-operate with the youth groups, traditional authorities and the Assembly Members for the attainment of development goals in the area. Mr Anane-Adjei thanked the Assembly members for "doing me this great honour", which he said belonged to God. He appealed to them to continue to support him for the accelerated development of the District.
