Anti Napo agenda flops
New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in the Manhyia South Constituency, who are secretly working to undermine the Member of Parliament (MP), Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo,’ have been advised to desist from such practice.
The NPP Electoral Area Coordinators and executives in Manhyia South Constituency, led by Peter Kwaku Asamoah, the CPC Electoral Area Coordinator, issued the stern warning during a press conference in Kumasi on Thursday.
“We are aware that a few frustrated NPP members, who breached the party’s constitution and were duly suspended from the NPP, have adopted a weird strategy to churn out falsehoods in a desperate attempt to impugn the reputation of Napo,” according to him.
Mr Kwaku Asamoah stated that Napo, who is also the Education Minister, is an asset to the good people of Manhyia South and Ghana in general, adding that the NPP Electoral Area Coordinators and the executives would not allow anybody to dent his image with blatant lies.
“We shall face those few good-for-nothing people in Manhyia South, whose main agenda is to fabricate lies to hurt our hard working and visionary lawmaker,” he declared at the press conference.
Mr Kwaku Asamoah gave the warning after some aggrieved NPP members in Manhyia South Constituency held a press conference to discredit Napo, who is also a cabinet minister.
According to reports, the organizers of the anti-Napo press conference, which was ignored by the residents of the area, were allegedly sponsored by one Richard Owusu, a suspended Second Vice Chairman of the party at Manhyia South Constituency.
But in a sharp rebuttal, Mr Kwaku Asamoah, who was impressed with the conduct of Napo, said “the Minister can be likened to a modern colour television set and we will never stoop low to replace it with a black and white television, which cannot display pictures clearly.”
He stated that the Minister has brought development to the area which has created jobs in the constituency.
According to him, Napo, a medical doctor by profession, has performed creditably at the Ministry of Education.
“He has been able to introduce the free Senior High School (SHS) policy which in effect has increased President Akufo-Addo’s popularity in the country.”
Mr Kwaku Asamoah stated that Napo’s popularity now transcends Manhyia South Constituency, stating that “this is a lawmaker and minister, who is an asset for the state because he has been blessed with knowledge and so we will not allow the evil minds in Manhyia South to hurt him.”
He warned that all NPP Electoral Area Coordinators and Executives at Manhyia South Constituency would at the appropriate time expose and shame the faceless people, who have devised plans to taint his image due to their jealousy.
