Anyidoho rubbishes Statesman’s report… says Ahwoi’s and co not sidelined

Deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress(NDC) Koku Anyidoho has downplayed speculations by some media that some heavyweights in the former Mills’ regime who were instrumental in government of the late leader had been currently sidelined by President John Dramani Mahama.

According to Anyidoho, most of these personalities allegedly reported as being sidelined are still behind the scenes executing oversight roles just as they did in the previous government.

“People have been working for this country continuously for the past fifty years and they are getting tired. So it will get to a point that they would take the back seats and they will not be in the frontline any longer. But I can tell you for a fact that nobody has been sidelined. Some of these things are internal house keeping arrangements that doesn’t come out,” Anyidoho explained on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM.

The Daily Statesman reports that some heavyweights who were seen as virtual ‘movers and shakers’ of the NDC, and were very instrumental in the electoral victory of the late president, Prof. JEA Mills including Kojo Tsikata, Nunoo Mensah and the Ahwoi brothers had been sidelined.

According to the Statesman newspaper, President Mahama has completely ignored these party giants when it comes to taking key decisions regarding the direction of the the governing NDC and the ongoing campaign for the polls.

But the Deputy scribe of the NDC insists the older brains were still being consulted although in view of their frail health they’re practically not seen playing out core political activities.

“They are just still playing their advisory role they always played. They have left this running around for us the young ones to do. And we consult them because they’re the gurus. In that before you take any major decision we do a lot of consultation. That is why the NDC is more organized than the NPP because there is order in our party and we respect structures.” Anyidoho said.
