Appeal to NDC supporters

Fri, 5 May 1995 Source: --

An appeal has been made to supporters and sympathisers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to continue to support the party for total victory during the next elections. The appeal was made by Alhaji Gado Sulemana, NDC Subin Ward chairman, during interaction with party supporters in Kumasi recently.

Alhaji Sulemana said the Present conditions in which the country finds itself was not meant to bring untold hardships to the people. He said the undustrialised countries passed through different stages before they could stand on their feet and that was exactly what Ghana was experiencing at the moment. The ward chairman said what the party was doing for the masses may not be beneficial to them at the moment, but it was left to us to sacrifice a little in order that our children would enjoy in future. He said the future belonged not to us but our children and that we have to clear a good path for them.

Alhaji Sulemana said the government's intention was to develop the rural areas and create conditions that would benefit those living in these areas by providing the necessary infrastructure like good drinking water, health services and good roads. He said it is only the uncultured who would stand against the government's plan to provide those services to better the living conditions of the people. The ward chairman asked the supporters not to listen to the propaganda of the opposition that the party was in disarray due to the present spate of strikes and demands by workers.

He said those actions by workers would not divert government's attention from building the country and that what was due to workers would be provided them at all cost.
