Mr Kofi Dzamesi, the Volta Regional Minister, advised the new DCEs to abide with the tenets of the 1992 Constitution and the Model Standing Orders of the District Assemblies and urged them to co-operate with all stakeholders. He entreated the assembly members to ensure that development projects were initiated in their electoral areas.
Mr Kamel Ford, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Buem Constituency, said the voting pattern had demonstrated in absolute terms, the high sense of respect the assembly members had for the President, which must be commended.
Mr Kudjoe Gyapong, MP for Akan Constituency said politics of divide and rule was dangerous and could mar the peace and unity in the area and called for political tolerance. Officials of the Electoral Commission supervised the election with Mr Vincent Sunu, a Jasikan Circuit Court Judge administering the official, allegiance and secrecy oaths.
