Yamoransa (C/R), July 9, GNA - Mr Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, Minister of Information and National Orientation, has given assurance that government has in place measures to protect every Ghanaian, irrespective of party affiliation, during elections in December. He has therefore urged the citizenry to "set their hearts at peace" about safety.
Mr Asamoah-Boateng, who is also the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Mfantseman West, was addressing a mini-rally at Yamoransa at the weekend as part of his campaign to canvass votes. He said government considers the up-coming elections as a "defining moment for Ghanaians" and would do everything possible to make it peaceful.
He cautioned supporters to be wary about people who would want to create confusion in the NPP.
Alhaji Mohammed Gibrine, Central Regional NPP Organizer, urged Ghanaians of 18 years and above to register and vote. Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, Municipal Chief Executive, pointed out that peace and good governance were the hallmarks of the NPP administration and appealed to Ghanaians to exercise patience because the government's policy of wealth creation had begun showing good results.
For example, he said the recent oil find would make life better for Ghanaians when exploration begins in 2010. There were similar rallies at Asafora, Eguase, Woraba, Saltpond Eguabado and Saltpond Kuranchikrom.
