Kumasi, June 22, GNA - The Asawase constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended two executive members from the party, indefinitely for misconduct. They are Mr C. K. Sulle, the constituency secretary and Mr Hamisu Ibrahim, the organiser.

A statement signed by Mr Osman Issah, the constituency assistant secretary in Kumasi on Wednesday, said the action was taken in accordance with Article 4, Clause 7 (a) 111 of the party's constitution. The statement said the executive based the action on the outcome of a report submitted by the constituency disciplinary committee, which investigated the two people.

It also said the two suspended officials took the signatures of 23 members of the party in the constituency under the pretext of putting them on the Asawase sub-metro and the town council in the constituency. It was later detected that, the suspended officials used the signatures to petition against the constituency chairman and this was contained in a letter dated May 9, 2005 and addressed to Mr S. K. Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister, who was then the acting Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive.

The statement said the report of the investigating committee established that 17 of the signatories were forged by the two suspended executive members and that in view of this, the committee applied the party's constitution.
