Kumasi, Oct 13, GNA - The Ashanti Regional Executive of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has joined the list of well wishers offering moral support and encouragement to former Youth and Sports Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, who is under investigation by the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) for alleged official misconduct.

The party in a statement issued and signed by the Regional Chairman, Mr Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, in Kumasi, "vowed to stand with him every step of the way".

It said they are convinced that the former Minister is innocent of the accusations of abuse of office made against him by a pressure group, Progressive Nationalist Forum.

"We have every reason to believe that Alhaji Muntaka, Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase, acted rightly and that he would be vindicated."

The ex-Minister is reported to have acquired a German visa for Miss Edith Zineuali, his alleged girlfriend, through false representation. Alhaji Muntaka was said to have presented the lady as a staff of the Youth and Sports Ministry for acquisition of the German visa, although he knew she was not.

Miss Zineuali at the time worked as a Secretary to the then Majority Leader in Parliament (MP), Mr Alban Sumani Bagbin. The former Minister has profusely denied any wrong doing and has already received the support from both the Regional Women and Youth Wings of the NDC in Ashanti.
