According to political analyst Nana Piesie, the two political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), are increasing their campaign activities in the Ashanti Region because it has become a battleground for politics.
He claimed that the NPP has targeted at least 80% of the total valid votes in the elections, whereas the NDC seeks to reduce the NPP's votes while securing at least 30%.
He stated that if the NDC secures this projection, it will have a significant impact on the NPP, which is why they are matching the NDC boot-for-boot in the region.
"If the NPP does not win the Ashanti Region with the desired 80 to 90 percent of the votes, they will suffer greatly. So, the Ashanti Region is serving as the battleground for the 2024 general elections and our political space," he said.
He stated on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM that the campaign activities of both parties are nearing their climax, and each wants to make progress towards victory.
Meanwhile, he has emphasized the importance of political leaders and their parties being accountable to the people rather than focusing solely on winning elections.
He stated that winning an election is primarily determined by the promises made to the people and that political leaders must deliver on their mandates if elected.
